The kitchen is the heart of the home. It’s where we cook, prepare meals, gather with family, and sneak a cookie before bed. So when it comes to keeping the kitchen clean, it’s no surprise that we want to find the most effective and natural remedies. Plus, it’s especially important to avoid harmful chemicals in houses with pets or little ones. Here are some of our favorite all-natural kitchen cleaners - all of the ingredients are non-toxic, affordable, and easy to find. It’s that simple.
FOR AN ALL-PURPOSE SPRAY CLEANER
The majority of store-bought kitchen cleaners are full of harmful, toxic chemicals. For an alternative, try this natural all-purpose spray cleaner that only takes a few ingredients. Pour some water, vinegar, and a few drops of essential oil into a spray bottle - voila!
FOR YOUR GRANITE COUNTERTOPS
Okay now the only thing you don’t want to use that vinegar all-purpose kitchen cleaner on are your granite countertops. Vinegar has a pH level that will, over time, ruin the finish of your granite. So instead, try this mix with alcohol as your go-to all-natural granite countertop cleaner.
FOR YOUR WOODEN BOARDS AND UTENSILS
Need to spruce up your wooden cutting board and spoon? Beeswax and mineral oil is all you need to make an all-natural wood butter. Another secret trick? Cut a lemon in half, squeeze and rub the juice on any cutting boards or utensils that need cleaning, and let it sit for ten minutes. When you rinse off the lemon, your kitchen tools will be good as new and smell nice and fresh!
If you have pesky stickers that don’t come off, try this simple and natural “goo-gone.” It’s just baking soda, coconut oil, and essential oils. Really, that’s it.
FOR YOUR MICROWAVE
The inside of your microwave often gets overlooked, but it, too, needs a good cleaning now and then. This trick also only requires very few ingredients and doesn’t require any harmful spray cleaners or scrubbing. Try this super simple how-to next time your microwave needs some attention.
FOR YOUR SINK
You’re probably sensing a common theme by now, but this lemon and clove sink scrub is also incredibly easy to throw together. Castile, baking soda, and essential oils will do just the trick when your kitchen sink has had a rough day.
