Almond Flour

Did you know that almonds aren’t technically nuts? Seriously. The almond tree is actually a member of the same family of trees as peaches, plums, cherries & nectarines. Who knew? At Simple Mills, we love almonds because of the nutritional punch they pack in each one of our mixes. After being blanched (to remove anti-nutrients) and milled into a fine flour, we use California-grown almonds as the foundation for our products. Almonds are an excellent source of protein, magnesium, potassium and Vitamin E.

Coconut Sugar

Coconut sugar is special for so many reasons. Derived from the sap of palm trees, coconut sugar provides a subtle sweetness and contains vitamins and minerals not found in common white sugar. We also love it for its low-glycemic properties, meaning that it doesn't spike your blood sugar sky high to then leave you crashing an hour later. And on top of all that, coconut sugar is one of the most sustainable sweeteners out there. Good for you and the environment? Now that's something we can get behind.

Our coconut sugar is certified organic and sourced from small cooperative sugarhouses in Java. 100% of the money from growing this ingredient stays in the local communities.

Arrowroot Powder

An herb first found in the West Indies, arrowroot was a foundation in the diet of the Native Caribbean Arawak people. It's been used for centuries to aid digestion and sooth gastrointestinal ailments. The plant’s root has very few calories yet delivers more protein than other similar starches. Arrowroot powder is a tasteless, odorless, easily digestible substance that we use to give our mixes a fluffy texture.

Flax Meal

By grinding up flaxseeds, we get flax meal. This powder form will ensure that your body can absorb all of the wonderful nutrients available. Flax’s Omega-3 fatty acids help build cell membranes in the brain. The fiber in flax seeds aids in digestion, and is broken down in the body into lignans, which regulate hormones and have shown to help reduce certain cancers.

While not all pumpkins are quite as magical as Cinderella's carriage, they all are incredibly nutritious. Chock full of fiber, Vitamin A, potassium and beta carotene, we get our pumpkins from a friendly Midwestern farmer. From the patch, our pumpkins are air dried and then ground into a fine powder that goes straight into our mixes.

There are so many good things about bananas that we don’t even know where to begin! These wonderful yellow fruits help to reduce stress, aid in digestion, lower blood pressure and deliver high amounts of energy. We always use fresh ripened, air dried bananas in our mixes.

Our unsweetened cocoa powder is produced by small farms practicing sustainability.

Baking Soda

We only use aluminum-free baking soda mined right from the ground. That’s it, simple as that! Baking soda helps everything from our Chocolate Muffins to the Pizza Dough rise to the perfect fluffiness.

Sea Salt

Our sea salt is unprocessed to ensure that it retains all of the awesome nutrients, such as magnesium, potassium and calcium.
